Harmsen knows what it takes to keep cities and counties running from rural to urban throughout the Puget Sound.

From municipal buildings to the infrastructures that keep a community running, our designers, surveyors and land use planners are well-experienced in how to work effectively with municipalities, other architectural and engineering teams, and the local communities surrounding these projects.

This is a broad category, but in our collective 43+ year history between H&AI and F&K, projects we regularly design, survey, and plan include:

  • City Campuses
  • Municipal Parks
  • Fire Departments
  • Police Departments
  • Correctional Facilities
  • Hospitals
  • Schools
  • Military Facilities
  • Wastewater Treatment Plants
  • Parking Lots
  • Public Utility Districts
  • Power Plant Facilities
  • Dams
  • Transportation related (link this to the Transportation page)
  • Stormwater
  • Drainage
  • Sewer
  • Parks, Trails and Recreational Facilities
  • Code Reviews
  • Annexation representation

Our personnel work closely with municipal personnel from assisting in streamlining their systems to working directly on public works projects. Some of our personnel have been employees of municipalities which gives us a unique perspective from both an end user’s and the municipalities’ perspective. This makes us particularly effective in working out issues between parties.

We regularly work with public works directors, city engineers, planners and other city officials. We understand how to review and investigate ordinances, codes and design standards to efficiently and correctly design municipal projects.
