This was a major in-place school rebuild for the Monroe School District.  Harmsen was chosen by the architect, Integrus Architecture, for the Civil Engineering.  Harmsen Surveying had previously done the pre-design survey for the District.

The duration of the project was three years, beginning in 2015 with completion in 2018.  It was particularly challenging for the district and the project teams because the requirement was that the school be functional during the two school terms required for the project.  For the first school year, portions of the school were demolished, with the space being replaced by temporary portable classrooms in other locations.  The following school year, the remainder of the buildings were demolished.  Students and teachers then occupied the new, completed portions along with temporary portables.  The schedule was extremely tight, because key portions of the construction had to be completed during the summer breaks.  Finally, in the fall of 2018, students and teachers were able to occupy and enjoy the completed school.  The only original building that remained was the gymnasium, which had been refurbished.
